Rishona Fitzhugh

On the night of June 8th, 2023, Rishona Rae Fitzhugh (“Shona”) received her wings and went to walk with angels. She had just celebrated her 47th birthday six days prior.

Rishona was a caring and selfless friend, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother. She was born to Carol and Kim Fitzhugh, on June 2nd, 1976, in Billings, MT. She moved to Florida in 1988 and spent most of her youth there where she was raised and homeschooled and grew up with her six siblings.

She returned to Billings for the remainder of her life, married, and had three children she was filled with pride over: Heather Stewart, Brandi Hart, and Tyla Hart.

Rishona loved to sing and was a beautiful piano player, warming the hearts of everyone around her when she played. Her musical abilities were remarkable, as she could tell which chord was being played on a guitar with her blue eyes shut tightly. The smallest things in life pleased her, and she was a big dreamer, filled with hope and love. She enjoyed collecting small trinkets, coloring, telling stories, and laughter. Humor was one of the most important things to Rishona. She was clumsy, quirky, and unapologetically herself. The opinions of others did not matter to her at all, as Shona knew who she was and felt no need to shield any part of her beautiful personality.

She is survived by her parents, Carol and Kim Fitzhugh, her six siblings, Gabe Fitzhugh, Rachel Schneider, Justin Fitzhugh, Nicci Nickelson, Abby Dunlap, and Jordan Fitzhugh, three children, Heather Stewart, Brandi Hart, and Tyla Hart, and two beautiful grandchildren; Brooklyn Hart and Owen Stewart.

Her celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 14th, at 4:00 pm, at Better To Gather event space located at 208 N 13th St, Billings, MT, 59101. Please join us in honoring Rishona, the kindest woman you have probably ever met.
