Steve Heit

Steve Heit, 62, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on June 6, 2023. Steve was born on February 15, 1961, in Columbus, Montana, to William Heit and Carol (Garoutte) Heit. As a young child, Steve and his family lived in Hardin, Montana, Denver, Colorado, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. After several moves, Steve and his family settled in Sidney, Montana where Steve spent the rest of his childhood.

Steve graduated from Sidney Senior High School in 1979 and later graduated from MSU-Bozeman with a bachelor's degree in Statistics. Just recently, Steve graduated from MSU-Billings with a bachelor's degree in education degree and teaching certification. Steve was one class away from obtaining his master's degree and was enrolled in that class this summer.

Steve's favorite things in the world were his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and his friends, or as he call them his buddies. Steve enjoyed all manner of sports, especially football and baseball. Steve was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan and Houston Astros fan. Steve was an awesome cook and loved to cook for his family and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, William Heit and Carol Garoutte Heit, his nephew, Joshua Orcutt, and sister-in-law, Jay Heit.

Steve is survived by his sister, Lori Orcutt (Craig), brothers Mark Heit, and Terry Heit (Chris), and nieces and nephews: Sharisse Slade (Andy), Chantal Stennerson (Justin), John Orcutt, III (Mandi), Amber Reger (Steven), Jenelle Clouse (Andy), Ariel Appleford (Chance), Jesse Orcutt (Melanie), Jeremiah Orcutt (Emma) and Secret Heit.

There will be a celebration of life service on July 29th at 2:00 pm, with a luncheon served afterward, at Big Horn Resort in Billings, MT for all family and friends.
