Kenneth Cox

Kenneth Ray Cox passed away at home in Billings MT on 7/19/23 after a battle with Liver Cancer.

Ken was born to Oliver W. Cox (Blackie) and Bertie Jackson Cox on 5/12/59 in Clovis, NM. He grew up in Southeast New Mexico and graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, NM in 1977. (Go Eagles)

Ken joined the United States Army on June 07, 1977. He attained the rank Sgt E-5 with an honorable discharge on March 23, 1984. During his service he was awarded several medals including the overseas ribbon, good conduct medal, expert rifle and sharpshooter badge and the Army achievement medal.

After returning from the Army, Ken performed numerous oilfield related jobs, specializing in radioactive tracing. His work took him to Alaska, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

While working he met and married, “the love of his life” Theresa Len Kerrigan, on 4/11/1996 in Sonora, TX. This union brought together the unit they call family: Misty Kerrigan (Natalie), (CA); Evelyn Field (James), (AZ); Kendra Cox and Sarah Cox, (MT). Grandchildren include granddaughters Gabby Cox, Ally Field (AZ) and grandson Spencer Wroot, (MT).

Ken was preceded in death by both parents, Blackie and Bertie E. Cox; his brother(s), Wendell Cox and Gary Burris; his sister(s), LaJune Gary, Wanda Raye Watts and Zadene Hubbard; Odis and Doris Newman, Dolores Stevens, Lloyd Newman and lifelong friends, Paul Dein (Nancy) and Johnny Beard (Cynthia).

Ken is survived by Theresa Cox, (MT); Misty Kerrigan, (Natalie) (CA); Evelyn Field, (James) (AZ); Kendra Cox and Sarah Cox, (MT),Gabby Cox, Ally Field (AZ), Spencer Wroot, (MT), Odis Cox (Cathy) (NM) and Denese Baker (Brent) (NE) Dee Barr (Randy) (TX) Clara May Farni (UT) and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Especially his grandkids. He enjoyed bowling, football, rodeos, dancing, country music, golf, and fishing.
