Horst Peetz

Horst Adolph (Vaas) Peetz was born May 18, 1942, in Bromberg, Poland to Adolf Vaas and Elli Vaas (Haak). He was the oldest of three children. His mom fled Poland with the kids during WWII. They returned to Germany. While there, he was introduced to Jehovah's Witnesses by classmates. They invited him to meet and that began his journey serving Jehovah.

Elli, Otto (Horst's stepdad). Horst and Hannah came to the United States when he was 3 in 1954. His family settled in Ceylon, MN where he graduated High School. Horst was living in Fairmont, MN when he met the love of his life, Pamela Musser. They married on July 8, 1967. In September 1968, they welcomed their only son, Paul. He provided for his family by installing flooring for over 50 years. Horst loved his family and really enjoyed his grandchildren, Bryce, Jachin, and Tevin. Horst also had many unofficial grandkids, too many to mention by name, but you know who you are.

Horst was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1959. That began his life-long preaching work. He served faithfully for 64 years. He was an integral part of the Fairmont, St. James, and New Ulm, MN congregations until they moved to Billings, MT in 2020. He had a wonderful, soothing reading voice; he loved reading the bible at the meetings and at home. He loved going out to service with the brothers and sisters. Many of his friends remember his corny sayings and nicknames for the kids.

Horst and Pam loved to travel. They visited all 50 states as well as many countries including Germany, Poland, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Luxenberg, Mexico, and Canada. He was always in awe of Jehovah's creation. Horst loved to get together with his friends and family. He could always find someone to speak German with. He loved to play cribbage, and horseshoes, go fishing, collect coins, share stories, and loved to watch sports.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elli Peetz; his father Adolf Vaas; his stepfather Otto Peetz; his sister, Hannah (Peetz) Waser; his infant brother, Warner Vaas. He is survived by his wife, Pam; son Paul and his wife, Kim; his grandsons, Bryce, his wife Julieanna (Carstensen), Jachin and Tevin.

A memorial will be on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. The service will take place in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 405 South 36th St W, Billings, MT 59101. Light refreshments will be served after the talk.
