Sandra Anne Alley passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2023, in Billings, MT with her daughters and the love of her life, Steve, by her side.
Sandy was born on February 23rd, 1959, in Sac City Iowa to Janice (Bruening) and Leonard Tiefenthaler. She graduated from Galva High School in 1978. Her daughter Sara (Lukkason) Knight was born on December 28th, 1983. On August 30th, 1997, she married Steven Alley in Nemo, South Dakota. Together they raised their 6 daughters and fostered 4 boys. In 2007 they moved to Absarokee, MT. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandma to her 9 grandkids.
Sandy was a creative entrepreneur who enjoyed sharing her many talents with her friends, family, and the community. She wrote a cooking article for the local paper, taught silk painting classes, propagated many plants, and owned two businesses (Sandy Alley Designs and Sewing Alley). After almost 35 years of sobriety, she was a dedicated member of AA and enjoyed sponsoring others as she wanted to help them see that there was life after addiction. Sandy had a generous heart and would do anything to help someone in need. She was involved in Dachshunds rescue groups and volunteered her time crocheting hats for cancer patients.
She loved welcoming people into her home and was an Airbnb Super Host for many years making lifelong friends with countless guests. She took pleasure in being a tour guide showing her guests around the beautiful Beartooth Mountains. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting, cooking, and made the most incredible desserts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephews Michael Alley and Danny Alley.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Alley of Absarokee, MT; daughters Sara (Ryan) Knight of Wichita, KS, Brooke (Todd) Maddox of Boise, ID, Brianne Alley of Lead, SD, Brittany (Jeremy) Williams of Ankeny, IA, Megan (Sam) Berkeland of Prior Lake, MN, and Molly (Troy) Vanni of Waukee, IA; 9 grandkids Baylie Trevino, Jax Bush, Reggie Knight, Rosie Knight, Maddie Knight, Luca Berkeland, Maisy Berkeland, Elle Vanni, Livia Vanni; 5 siblings Steven (Lynnette) Tiefenthaler, Laurie (John) Lawson, Timothy (Mary) Tiefenthaler, John (Shelly) Tiefenthaler, Tony (Susan) Tiefenthaler and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation.
