Obituary

Named Joy Christina Lee at birth in Lake Providence, Louisiana, she brought joy to those who knew her as well as those who heard her play piano throughout her life.

Graduating from LSU with a music major, her fondness for music stayed with her for the rest of her life. Indeed, she taught piano and music until she was 85!

Love found her on that campus, in the form of William Truett Black. Who knew they would end up in California raising four girls?

She was widowed in 1976 and later married William Turner, who came with his own four children. Their home was full of love, horses, dogs, and grandchildren!

In her fifties, she added to her education with a Ph.D. in psychology, as well as a license in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. She particularly enjoyed working with couples, childhood trauma, and assisting people to become the best version of themselves.

After being widowed a second time, she moved to El Paso. There, she was heavily involved in the Agape Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and of course, continued playing and teaching piano lessons.

In her last years, she moved to Montana where her daughter, Linda, lovingly managed her care.

She touched many lives with her warmth, beauty, and positive spirit. Always the glamour girl, she never forgot to put on her lipstick!

Christina is survived by four daughters, Evelyn, Dorothy, Cynthia and Linda;

Four Grandchildren, Selina, Joe, Allison and Corey; and

Four Great Grandchildren, Savannah, Maya, Jax and Xaius.

No formal services are planned.

Your Mother She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well, she’s your breath in the air on a cold winter’s day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She’s the place you came from, your first home, and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on Earth can separate you. Not time, not space… not even death. author unknown

Pics from the '70s - a glamour pic and her Saloon Girl outfit - she played piano (ragtime tunes) at Knotts Berry Farm; and would get shot and "die" at each performance!
