Marion Walton

Marion slipped peacefully from her earthly bonds and joined Bill and Jesus in one graceful bound. Mother of ten and captain of her brood, she was also an excellent cook, a nurse, a gardener, chocolate connoisseur, and was with her soulmate for decades. Weak she was not, continuing to do all the things for over forty years with one lung and a few other incidental major cancers. Her family and her friends were her universe. Bountiful is a good word for ten children, twenty-seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren, plus-minus dogs, cats, cows, sheep, horses, and other assorted accouterments of her hacienda. Oxygen was a bother to her, when she ran out while in town she would just breathe slowly while driving home fifteen miles, a complainer she was not. She still had the keys to her SUV in her purse, even though she was not allowed to drive for the last year but would occasionally threaten to go for a drive. Her daughter Julie deserves special mention as she was one of the main caretakers for the last ten years, alongside the many other family members who came to help. She was a ruthless Scrabble player who gave all her family a good run. She was a faithful servant, a prayer chain warrior, a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul, and would never miss Sunday church.

In summary, Mom was a strong individual who valued her family, friends, and her faith with equal measure. She would say “thank you” for coming today.
