Janice Klarich

Surrounded by her family, Jan Klarich ,85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was a beloved mother and (great)grandmother, and friend to many.

Jan was born near Canton,South Dakota on January 20,1938 to Leo and Martha Tollefson. She graduated from Canton High School and continued her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota where she earned her teaching certificate.

After graduating, Jan taught kindergarten in Harrisburg, South Dakota. Shortly after, she married James O. Lay and went on to have three children, Vicki, Bruce, and Jason.

Jan was a “people person” and could strike up a conversation with almost anyone and have their life story within minutes! She loved a good bargain and was an expert on getting the best deals at garage sales! Jan was a very health conscious and loved to go for walks, eat nutritious foods, and loved to" go for coffee” almost daily. She also treasured time spent with her family and going on adventures with her “sweetheart” Larry, who was a blessing in Jan's life in the past couple of years.

Jan was a follower of Jesus and attended Faith Chapel, along with being involved in Pillars , Woman's Bible study and volunteer service. Her faith was the foundation of her life.

Jan was predeceased by father Leo Tollefson, mother Martha Tollefson, and sisters Betty Clay, Carol Myers, and Donna Jensen.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Schwarz(Quentin G. Schwarz) of Livingston, sons Bruce Lay(Pam Lay)of Livingston, and Jason Lay of Helena, sister Linda Hoyt, Grandsons Tristan, Austin, and Dustin Schwarz(Sarah Schwarz), Sterling Lay, and great grandchildren Lauren Schwarz, Siella Schwarz and Sawyer Schwarz.

A memorial service honoring and remembering Jan will be held at Faith Chapel on Thursday, October 12 at 2pm
