Obituary
Margaret Gertrude Caroline Peterson passed away on October 25, 2023 at Billings Clinic as she was preparing for her first chemo treatment.
She was born on May 20, 1942, in Bismark ND to Joseph and Anna Grinsteiner, joining her older sister Loretta.
Marge attended grade school and junior high at the schools on the South Side of Billings. She attended Senior High School and quit after one year. She then worked various jobs.
Marge married Clarence Wittman in 1961 and to this union, her son Tracy Wayne Wittman was born. This marriage ended in divorce.
Marge was employed by Kasper Photo for 30-plus years as a photo finisher.
On September 30, 1977, she married Kenneth Peterson. They had met on a blind date. Dot and Bernard Crump had tried the entire year of 1976 to get Ken to take her out and in December of 1976 agreed to meet her. With stipulation, they had to go with them. Bernard was informed that after the date, they would drop Marge off at her home and then take them home.
Bernard was told that afterward, Ken didn't want to hear from Crumps or Marge again. That was December 1976, and she was in my life forever.
Marge enjoyed hockey, Billings Mustang Baseball (Season tickets for 30 years), and Billings Studio Theater. She enjoyed golf in the early 1990s but quit when Ken couldn't go with her due to an injury. She loved to watch old movies.
During our working years, we would take a one to two-week vacation each year and saw most of the US.
In 2021, Ken was diagnosed with cancer and other health problems and had to depend on Marge. She started as a PFV and became a 5-star General. She was in complete control and never complained.
After all these years, Ken realizes that the blind date in 1976 turned into a gift from God.
Survivors include husband Kenneth L. Peterson of Billings, son Tracy (Sue) Whittman of Billings, Brother Tom (Robin) Grinsteiner of Billings, brother-in-law Gary (Dee) Peterson of Great Falls, and Sister-in-law Renee Peterson of Billings. Nieces Taryn (Hishem) Bifeuzi of Meridian, ID, Angie (Roger) Chamberlin of Brusett, MT, Salena Severs of Houston, TX, Teressa Campion – Tarpon Springs, FL, Darcie (Ben) Aakre of Great Falls, MT. Nephews Scott (Lucy) Severs of Oakville, WA, Greg Nelson of Belleair, FL, Steve (Lorrie) Nelson of Seminole, FL, Bryan (Jodi) Peterson of Huntley, MT, and Casey (Meridith) Peterson of West Fargo, ND.
Preceding in death were her parents, sister Loretta, sister Joyce, niece Susan, and nephew Tyson.
