Carl Muthman

Carl was born in Havre, MT to Herman and Ann (Volk) Muthman who resided in Chinook, MT. The Muthman family lived in Big Timber, and Ennis, MT where Carl attended first and second grades. He completed his education in Hardin, MT and graduated from Hardin High School.

Carl played football for Hardin from a sophomore through to his senior year. During those years in Hardin, Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping alongside his father.

After high school Carl attended MSU-Bozeman for two years. He became a Deputy Sheriff for Big Horn County, MT. Carl moved to Helena, MT where he worked in Law Enforcement for Lewis & Clark County and the State of Montana. He then moved to Colstrip, MT where he was a Deputy Sheriff for Rosebud County. Carl eventually followed in his father's footsteps and started working for the Montana Power Company. After a few years he transferred to Billings, MT. Carl continued working for MPC and NW Energy.

Carl spent 30 years teaching Hunter Safety to the youth of Billings. He continued to hunt, fish, and camp during this and for many years after.

Carl retired early from NW Energy with medical issues. He tried his best to continue with his life-long love, the outdoors. Unfortunately, due to health complications he eventually had to give up his pleasures of hunting, fishing, and camping as well.

Carl is proceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Ann Muthman.

Carl is survived by his sister Kathleen(Warren) Hoffard, his niece Cheryl (Matthew) Young, 4 grandnephews: Coleton, Carter, Callen, and Camden; goddaughter Brandi Pitt, special friends Randee and Charlene Follmer, Tim Sanders and Shawn Myers.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 10, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A luncheon will be served following Mass, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
