Gerald Weis

Gerald Thomas Weis, 76, of Billings, MT passed peacefully away on Fri, 10 Nov 2023 with family by his side. Although Jerry was born in Yakima, WA on February 1, 1947, the family lived in Billings, most all of his life. Family was very important to Jerry. He was raised with 10 brothers and sisters, Jim, Patsy, Ted, Darlene, Bill, Nancy, Steve, Dixie , Danny and Charlene. Jerry attended school in Billings, not graduating high school, but joining the US Navy and serving in 1965 to 1967. Upon return he worked in construction, often as a hod carrier, where he learned to lay brick. He worked as a Brick layer for many years. Jerry could build anything and worked as a carpenter also. The last job he had before retiring was a Dryvit man for Empire Lath and Plaster. Jerry married Cindy Black in 1980. They had 3 girls, Olivia, 1981, Ester, 1983 and Irenea Molly 1986. That marriage ended in divorce in 1989. On July 18 1998 he married Emma Cartright who brought two boys to the family, Jeremy and Charles. Jerry was a family man and builder at heart. He loved spending time with all the family he could, family cookouts, camping, fishing, raising cows, chicken and pigs, gardening, woodworking. He loved sharing ideas with his friend Charlie Low and going to his daughter Esters hockey games. Jerry is preceded in death by his father, George Weis, his mother and step father Esther and Ed Yurick, his bothers Ted and Bill Weis, and a sister Dixie Ranthum. Jerry is survived by his wife, Emma Weis, her sons, Jeremy and Charles Cartwright, his daughters and their children Olivia Northridge, Teagan and Mason Northridge, Ester Crawford, Skylar Crawford, and Irenea Molly Weis, Alexander and Annika Weis. Also surviving Jerry are 4 of his sisters, Patsy, Darlene, Nancy, and Charlene, and three of his brothers Jim, Steve and Dan Weis. Jerry worked tirelessly to provide the best for his kids and grandkids. He had a long career with Empire Lath and Plaster until retirement. He was a man of strong faith and a member of the Heights Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1989. Jerry was a helping man who always offered his construction services to those in need within the congregation and the world. In the summers he traveled with his girls to Kingdom Hall builds around the region, laying brick and spreading Dryvit on many of the Halls in Montana. Jerry was a loving and gentle father and husband who was always responsible. He was a very funny and loving grandfather who always had a joke to tell, a song to sing, or a poem to recite. Constantly hard at work, he would often be heard singing old songs. He was never angry even in his illness at the time. He was very kind to family and the many friends he had. No one was a stranger to Jerry for long.
