Celestine Fredenburg

Celestine (Sally) Fredenburg 89, of Billings, peacefully passed away on November 14, 2023, with family by her side.

She was born to the late Harry and Catherine Schaff, on October 19th, 1934. In the farmhouse, she grew up in on the Yellowstone River located in Laurel, MT. She attended Laurel High School.

She married the late Stan Fredenburg in 1951, and they lived in Rancho Cordova, CA where they raised their five children. They decided it was time to return home to Billings and made the move in 1976. Sally is survived by her five children: Kenny Fredenburg, of Billings; Susan (Steve) Johnson, of Billings; Jeannette Binns, of Marysville, WA; Richard (Delinda) Fredenburg, of Billings; and Diana (Ken) Zentz, of Queen Creek, AZ. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Sally was predeceased by her loving husband in 2010.

While living in California, Sally was a member of the Catholic Daughters, she was also an honorary member of the Elks Lodge. Sally was very sociable and always looked forward to her weekly breakfast meet-ups with her long-time colleagues. Sally had a career with the telephone company, starting out with Pacific Bell as a telephone operator. She advanced to the repair department for Mountain Bell, where she retired in 1993. Sally loved to hunt and fish with her late husband, always enjoying camping and scouting hunting areas. After retirement, she was able to travel to various places and loved wintering in Arizona. Sally was immensely proud and had so much love for her whole family. She always saw the good in everyone and was the kindest loving mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and always offered coffee and anything else she could make up. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health started to decline, she would always say “I have no regrets and have lived a very full and blessed life.”

The Rosary will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Pius Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 at 11:00 am, and following that a Luncheon until 1:15. Graveside will take place at the Laurel Cemetery at 1:45 pm.
