Obituary

James Peter Frickle was born April 18, 1949 in Billings, Montana and died December 9, 2023 in Billings, Montana. Between those dates Jim led a full and generous life. He was a sweet faced baby with over 50 first cousins, an altar boy, a Little Flower Crusader and a Billings Central Ram. He attended EMC, the University of Montana and earned a MSW at the University of Washington at Cheney. Jim was a shy kid with a speedy wit and a quick laugh.

He had four siblings and family was a quintessential piece of his being. Jim married in his 20's and had four fine children. He loved each enormously and was proud of their accomplishments in school and now in their four differing and successful careers. When Jim talked about his five grandchildren his heart and eyes beamed.

With his MSW he worked in the Butte, Missoula and Billings school districts plus had a private practice in Butte and Anaconda. His working days ended with a good run at Adult Ed in Lincoln Center. Jim loved golf, the Eagles, the Phillies and the Griz. The Red Zone made his life so much simpler.

After reconnecting at their 30th BCCHS class reunion Jim married Sandra Schiavon and they spent the next 26 years together. It was a happy and comfortable life but the last 2 years contained too many ER visits and hospital stays.

Jim is survived by his siblings; Teri, Steve, Bob and Gloria and his nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his four children; Tammi, TJ, Marc and Josh and his widow, Sandra.

On January 20, 2024 at 9:30am, Jim's service will be at Dahl's Funeral Chapel followed by a ceremony at Holy Cross and a luncheon at Dan Walt Gardens. A memorial account has been set up at Western Security Bank to create special spot at Yegen Golf Course with a bench and a tree or two.

Jim lives in our hearts, telling us stories, making us smile and what better testament to a life well lived.

I worked with Jim when he first came to School District 2. I'm a social worker also. My husband was in the same book club as Jim through One Book Billings. He made a huge contribution to the kids he worked with while working in the schools and at Lincoln Center. He really created a niche for himself there. We send our sincerest condolences. Jim loved to tell stories that would more often than not, make you laugh just as much as he was laughing telling it. He had a great spirit, I always enjoyed the times at work, when we traveled for work or just sitting around visiting. I loved my cousin and will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers from Jill and I are with Jim and his family.
