Teressa Buxton

It is with profound sadness that we announce that on the evening of December 28th, Teressa Buxton (LaMere) left this world and joined her Savior in Heaven.

Although Teressa did not share much about her childhood, we know she grew up a daddy's girl.

Teressa had two main focuses in her last years. She loved God and she loved being Mamma T. As godmother to Linda Crawford, she made herself available to be another mom whenever Linda needed her. Although Linda was her only official goddaughter, Mamma T was known throughout the South Side. She was infamous. Damien, Kat, Georgia, Linda, River, and Bluesky. The list of children she loved could fill books. She was always meeting needs, even past her dying breath when she donated her corneas to provide sight to another. She loved her animals dearly and helped many people on the South Side when their animals needed help. She also loved her church. She called Bethel Baptist Church home. She was there every Sunday morning at 9, even on her days off, because she loved serving. Teressa also led prayer in the children's class on Wednesday night, encouraging the kids to know the God who saved her.

Teressa's Celebration of Life will be held on January 20th, 2024 at 4:00 pm, at Bethel Baptist Church, 4119 Clevenger Avenue. All are welcome.
