Howard Stuart

Howard Chandler Stuart was born December 2, 1937, in Billings and left this world on December 29, 2023, from Billings Clinic Hospital after a brief illness. His parents were Wesley A Stuart and Edith R Jacks Stuart. The first few years of Chandler's life he spent in what his young mind considered “the best place on earth” – Miles City, MT. When Chan was five the Stuarts moved to Billings where his father worked as a typesetter for the Billings Gazette.

Chan received his education in the Billings School System. In 1956 he graduated from Billings Senior High School. He earned both a bachelor's and master's degree at Eastern Montana College where his higher education wrapped around a four-year sting in the United States Air Force.

While in the service he married Judith Maybee – mother to daughters, Rhonda Griffin (Paul) and LuWayne Sieler (Nathan). Chan later married Barbara Sperry Stuart with whom he had a son, Kolby Stuart, and daughter Jadi Stuart.

When friends and family speak of Chandler, it is about his warmth, friendliness, and interest in others. He valued his relationships with God, his family, and everyone he ever met! His love for people was unconditional, boundless, compassionate, joyful, and all inclusive.

Surviving Chandler are his wife, children, and six grandchildren, Natalie, Hallie, and Annalee Griffin, Holden, Jothan, and Hudson Sieler.

A celebration of Chandler's life will take place this summer on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at DanWalt Gardens in Billings. Come with your stories and enjoy this time of celebration.
