Barbara Doherty

Barbara Marie Doherty passed away on January 22, 2024, at Billings Clinic Hospital.

Barbara was born June 12, 1937, in Billings, Montana to Theodore and Florence Turco. She graduated from Billings Central High School and volunteered as a Candy Striper at the St. Vincents Hospital.

Barbara married her husband Richard “Dick” Doherty of 50 years in 1955. She graduated from Montana State University Billings with an accounting degree and went on to work for H&R Block doing tax preparation. Barbara enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren especially every summer where the entire family met at the cabin on Swan Lake. Barbara enjoyed her church parish group Circle where she made lifelong friends. She always looked forward to Christmas when the entire family gathered at her house every year. She liked to flock the Christmas tree but ended that practice after flocking Dick's car. Barbara also enjoyed working with her husband Dick in helping Rich, Roger, and Curtis at Tiny's Tavern with their catering service. She also enjoyed a scotch with her brother Gary whenever he was in town. She was a devoted wife and mother loved dearly by Dick, her four children, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Barbara is survived by her brother Gary (Vickie) Turco of Ogden, Utah, children, Mark (Brenda) Doherty of Billings, Candy Doherty of Lynnwood, Washington, Pat (Julie) Doherty of Lynnwood, Washington, and Lisa (Rich) Weller of Billings; and grandchildren AJ Doherty (Amy), Kaela Woods (Brian), Samantha (Nitin) Pai, Jenna Weller, Lauren (Nic) Crawford, and Kolby Weller (Rebecca). Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Dick, father Theodore, mother Florence, brother Teddy, and sister Judy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26 at St Thomas Church.
