Obituary

Olin “Kent” Forrester, 80, passed peacefully February 10, 2024, following a lengthy battle with Parkinsons. Kent was born July 11, 1943, in Livingston, MT to Olin Beltran Forrester and Nina June (Bohn) Forrester and enjoyed life with family and friends in Lockwood MT.


Kent could not only fix, build, create or repair almost anything, he taught three generations of young family and friends how to do the same. Kent was kind, wise, orderly and by-the-books. He believed in always leaving the world better than you found it. Kent always had time for you—family, friends, and anyone he met on an adventure. Kent enjoyed anything with an engine but was particularly passionate about snowmobiling, ATVs, camping, travel, and Sunday drives on the backroads of Montana and over the “Big Rock Pile” (Cooke City Pass).


Kent was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Cheryl, sister Joyce and brother Lyle. Kent is survived by his wife Nona Forrester, siblings Bohnie, Janet, and Gary; children Whitney, (Cheryl), Reneau and Brett (Nona), stepchildren Terry, Lori, Leslie and Linda; grandchildren: Molly, Maddy, Hunter, Zoё, and Peter; nephews Carl and Jim, nieces Rosetta Dawn, Jeannie, Joan, Barbara, Pam and Cody; great nieces and nephews Adrian, Elijah, Joshua, Darian, Aaliyah, Zoe, Amaya, Kobe, Lizzie, Emily, Annica, Akira, Forrest, Cody, Brandy, Chezerae, Dalton, Jim, Ashley, Ashton, Triston, Carter, Gus, Torryn, Rick, Tammi, Debbie, Dan, Tauzha, Shane and Teresa, great nieces and nephews Niki, Megan, Dani, Denise, Devin, Amanda, Danika, Bradley, Jacob, Vanessa, and so many dear treasured friends.


Kent's memory is a blessing to all who were loved by him. At his request, there will be no formal services, but we will continue to celebrate his life in each other.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter and by taking time to hold hands and watch the sunset in his memory

The first time I ever met Kent he promised us (my sister and i) chocolate pie for breakfast the next time he saw us. He delivered. It really set the tone for being his grandkids. He was fun, always went above and beyond, and cared deeply.

I enjoyed meeting Kent through my sister and brother-in-law (Parkers). He was always joyful and helpful. After my mom died he helped us move her furniture from Canyon Creek. My deepest sympathy to Kent's family at this painful time.
