Obituary

Dorothy Mae Podoll, 91, passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2024.

She was born on August 9, 1932, in Louisville, Colorado.

On March 25, 1950, Dorothy married the love of her life Floyd Wilbert Podoll in Red Lodge, MT and they were married for 64 years.

During her lifetime, she was employed and retired from clothing retail. She played the organ in the Lutheran Church and was a wedding coordinator.

Dorothy loved mountain scenery, after-church services, coffee, and dessert with close friends. She loved reading the Bible and novels written by Kristin Hannah and Nicholas Sparks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd, and grandson Christopher Novak, and brother Richard Shumoch of Colorado.

She is survived by her children Pam (Avery) Segale of Meridian, ID; Rod (Janelle) Podoll of Billings, MT; Brenda (Gary) Wipplinger of Polson, MT; and Audrey (Murray) Hartford of Rock Springs, WY, a half-brother Dan Brown as well as 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11 am at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery on Central Avenue in Billings, MT. Luncheon to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She will go in her new life with Christ our Lord and go as a butterfly.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy would like memorial donations made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Dorothy (and Floyd) lived across the street from us for over 25 years. They were great friends. Many patio visits! They watched for our daughter to come home from school and were available if needed. We could count on them to keep an eye on things. Many times they had to close our garage door, when we forgot to. We also were members of Trinity, they were our mentors in a Christ centered life, also Altar Guild, LWML and Floyd was Clayton's mentor as an elder. They were amazing neighbors and friends. We will miss them both and will continue to cry at the passing of a wonderful woman. Dorothy you were beautiful both inside and out. Bless you as you are united with the loves of your life, both God and Floyd. Love to your family.
