Obituary
With great sadness we announce the passing of Allison Margaret Berchtold, age 59; our loving and devoted mother and friend, on February 15, 2024.
She was born May 24, 1964, in Oakland, California to the late James and Pamela Lewis. She married Raymond Berchtold, in June of 2000 who preceded her in death in 2022.
After graduating from Henley High School in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Alli continued her education at Napa Valley College where she received an associate's degree in Nursing in 1991.
Alli's career began at Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA as an RN in the trauma ICU unit where she worked for 15 years, and then to the emergency room where she continued to care for patients until 2014. Allison transferred to Glenn Medical Center where she continued patient care as an RN and eventually became the Emergency Room Nursing Manager for a short time before concluding, that management wasn't for her. Allison also had a short tenure at Orchard Hospital before settling into her role as a Nursing Investigator for Peraton.
During her 32-year nursing career, Alli received several awards and employee recognitions. Her natural gift was always serving people which was exemplified through mentoring and being a preceptor to many nurses, sharing the wisdom and experience that she gained over the years. She was very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion.
Allison was a dedicated mother to her two daughters, Becky and Tori. She treasured them and embraced every moment with them. She was their nurse, counselor, teacher, on-call babysitter, critic, confidant, and most importantly, their friend. She could always be counted on to be there for her girls. Allison especially loved her role of Grammy. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went.
Allison is survived by her daughters Becky (Jerame) Harp, and Tori (Garrett) Walker; brother Scott Lewis; grandchildren Huntly Harp, Klaire, Presley, and Ava Walker; along with many other relatives and friends.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2 pm at Durham Memorial Park in Durham, CA. Allison's ashes will be spread in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local 4-H or FFA clubs.
