Roger General Edwards, beloved father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on February 23 at the age of 76. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, adventure, and selflessness that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on September 3rd, 1947, in Dayton Ohio, Roger served his country with valor during the Vietnam War. His bravery was recognized with numerous honors, including the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, and several other distinguished medals and badges, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, displaying his dedication and sacrifice.
Roger lived a life filled with diverse experiences and achievements. From his time as a scuba instructor to his victories as a Billiard State Champion, he approached every endeavor with passion and skill. His commitment to service extended beyond the military; he served as a sheriff, touching the lives of many in his community.
An accomplished author and songwriter, Roger shared his creativity and wisdom with the world through his writing. His book and DUI pamphlet stand as testaments to his commitment to education and safety.
Yet, amidst his many accomplishments, Roger remained a loving father and grandfather, above all else. He cherished moments spent with his family, whether fishing by the lake, camping in the mountains, or simply enjoying the outdoors. His love for antiques and adventure was infectious, bringing joy to those around him.
Roger will be remembered for his outgoing nature, his zest for life, and his unwavering generosity. His legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by Bonnie Dill, his son Robb Edwards, two daughters Christy and Heather Edwards, 5 grandchildren, and a brother and sister Clyde Edwards and Martha Edwards.
A celebration of Roger Edwards life will be held on May 24th at 1 pm, at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel, MT.
