Obituary
Rick Burgin, 59, passed away peacefully at his home on February 29, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Rick was born on February 7, 1965, in Grand Junction, CO to parents, Richard and Susie (Unburn) Burgin. He was the baby of the family. During his childhood, the family moved around to several states as his father managed ranches in Colorado, Arizona, California, and Montana. Rick graduated from Lima High School in Lima, MT in 1983.
After high school, Rick resided in Billings working for multiple trucking companies, the longest being 10+ years with Raymond Corcoran Trucking. In 1995, he met his true love, Stacy Garlock, through mutual friends. Stacy and Rick were married on October 23, 1999. From this union, Rick gained his stepdaughter, Tedeen. Rick decided to find work that kept him home and went through a few positions before going to work for Empire Sand & Gravel as a Mixer Driver and backup Pump Truck Operator. From this experience, he gained his passion for operating pump trucks. In 2008 he and Stacy opened their business, R & S Concrete Pumping. Through the business, Rick made many lifelong friendships and connections with his customers, contractors, and concrete affiliates. He was often known as the one wearing a ‘Superman' cape, always going above and beyond, and coming to the rescue of others. One contractor noted, ‘he was the best damn pump man ever, pretty ok golfer too.' Rick was well known for his hard work, loyalty, generosity, and dedication to his wife and their future.
His hobbies included snowmobiling, fly fishing, buying and restoring classic cars, golfing, and traveling. He was a foodie who loved cooking his own ‘gourmet' meals. He was the proud ‘daddy' to his fur babies, and ‘Papa Rick' to his grandbabies.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Debbie. Survived by his wife, Stacy; stepdaughter, Tedeen (Jake) Johnson; grandchildren, Zoey, Roman, Maisyn, and Dominic; sisters, Pam Bonds and Becky Cantwell; nephews, Justin (Anna) Bonds and Ryan (Jess) Bonds and their families; many, many friends from all areas of his lifelong interests including concrete, golf, fishing, and classic cars.

- Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona for their integrative care and cancer treatment in a loving and caring environment. They feel very fortunate to have had the Care Team, especially Nurse Jocelyn and Coordinator Jeannette.
- Bill Bickler for the use of his home in Buckeye, AZ while Rick received treatment.
- Ryan, Alycia, Ken, and Kassi Fleury for the GoFundMe.
- Raenelle, Bailey & Eric with Stockman Bank for helping ensure finances were in place.
- Dietrich Law Firm for assisting with legal arrangements-- even long distance.
- Jim Schaak for coming to our rescue and making the long drive home from Arizona with the dogs and belongings.
- Angel Med Flight for getting us home safely.
- Compassus Hospice for helping us provide Rick with comfort, peace, and loving him up as he prepared himself for transitioning to whence, he came.
They say it takes a village to raise a child…it also takes a village to send a loved one on with respect, dignity, and most of all LOVE. Rick was humbled to know just how much he was loved by so many.
Rick's wishes were to be cremated with no service. Rick also wished for all of us to live our lives to the fullest, and to remember him on the golf course, the job site, and the river. Have a steak dinner and a Caucasian in his honor. The Dude Abides.
