Jack Akerstrom

Jack B Akerstrom, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many, left this earth on March 3rd to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jack was born on May 21, 1943, in Billings. After graduating from Billings Senior High, Jack joined the United States Army and served in the U.S. and Okinawa. Upon discharge from the Army, Jack marred Peggy Sannes, and in their years of marriage, four daughters were born to them: Kayte Sease, Lisa Wilson (Dave), Jennifer Montiel (Frank), and Andrea Akerstrom.

Jack attended Montana State University in Billings and worked for several Engineering Firms before retiring in 2010. His interests were reading, camping, hunting, fishing, wood carving, and wood burning. He was a very talented artist.

Jack was a man of few words. However, he was proficient in sarcasm. His gift of humorous sarcasm was proudly passed down to his daughters.

Preceding him in death were his father, Walter M. Christensen, his mother Eleanor, his sister Susan Mettler.

Surviving Jack are his wife Peggy, his four daughters, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty eight great grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Jack's faith and love for his family were most important in his life. He was very patriotic and loved his country.

He liked to study history and was taking an online course through Hillsdale college.

Services to honor Jack will be held at Word of Life Church, 1737 King Avenue West on April 9, at 11:00 a.m. The inurnment will be at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel on May 21st at 2 p.m.
