John Brackney

John passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2024 with family by his bedside.

John was born May 4th, 1948 to Hoyt and Lillian Brackney, in Vermillion, South Dakota. John's family moved to Great Falls, Montana where he was raised and educated.

One day, in 1972, John stepped out of his apartment door at the same time as his future wife, Barbara, who had just stepped out her door. It was an encounter that would lead to their marriage in 1973, which took place in Chinook, Montana. They had four children, Brian, Wayne, John Jr., and Kimberly.

John did a number of jobs over the years, such as glass cutting and later custodial work at a hospital. He had to retire shortly after their marriage because of health issues.

John enjoyed photography, cars and tinkering with cars, oldies music, jamming with friends to ZZTop, spending time on the computer, picnics, and most important for him, spending time with family.

John was preceded in death by his parents Hoyt and Lillian, his brothers Patrick, Marlin, Richard, and sister Arliss.

John is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Brian, Wayne (Jennifer), John Jr. (Tabitha), Kimberly (Neil) and grandchildren Kolter, Bradley, Erin, Kiersten, Crystal, and Clarence.

A memorial will be held at a future date.
