LaDonna Sherman

LaDonna Lucille Sherman, 86, passed away on May 3, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings surrounded by her family.

Born May 29, 1937, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana to Frances and Lucille (Baird) Crosby, LaDonna was raised with her sister Sherri (Crosby) Gray on the family farm in Huntley Project. She attended Huntley Project Schools and graduated from Huntley Project High School in 1955. After high school, LaDonna attended and graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane, Washington. She moved back to Huntley Project after finishing school and began dating the love of her life, Arthur Dale Sherman. They married in July of 1958.

Soon after marrying, Dale and LaDonna gave birth to three children in quick succession: Darrell, Dexter, and Liane.

LaDonna went to work as a legal secretary for Crowley Law Firm for more than 35 years, taking a great deal of pride in her work. Being a working woman in a time when women were less common in the workforce has always been an inspiration to her daughter and granddaughters.

A lover of nature, LaDonna enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing with her husband and family, as well as maintaining a yard full of flowers and a bountiful garden. She was an adventurous cook, always trying out new recipes that she would show off to her family ¬– sometimes with mixed results. La Donna's creativity knew no bounds, and she had what seemed like a million crafty hobbies. She loved textiles-especially quilting- and created beautiful quilts for each of her grandchildren. She was an active member of her social circle and loved to entertain. On top of her various hobbies, she also adored nights out dancing with her beloved husband, Dale.

LaDonna is survived by her sons Darrell (Cheryl) Sherman and Dexter Sherman, her daughter Liane (Brett) Bates; her grandchildren Kerry (Shaun) Sherman, Sydne (Garrett) Visser, Ashlynn (David Kuhn) Andersen, Shelby Sherman, Jessica Andersen, and Tiffani Bates; her great-grandchildren Tucker Visser and Ozzy Visser; her sister Sherri Gray, and multiple sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death be her husband, Dale Sherman, and her parents, Frances, and Lucille Crosby.

Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursday, May 30, at 10:00 am. Reception to follow at the family home – 3023 McBride St., Billings, MT 59102. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Yellowstone Valley animal Shelter.
