John Duerrwaechhter passed away at home on June 01, 2024. He was attended by his family. John was born on September 8, 1932, in LA Crosse, Wisconsin to Edythe (nee Morkin) and John A. Duerrwaechter. At age 11, the family relocated to Billings, Montana. He attended Billing Senior High and Enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1949. He is a combat veteran of the Korean War (including Incheon and Chosin Reservoir) and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1970. Throughout his life, he embodied the Marine Credo of: God, Country, and Corps. He married Barbara Morgan on September 10, 1955. They had two children Jeff ( Laura Duerrwaehter) and Stacy (Tim Holloway). After retiring from the Marines, he joined the US Postal Service in Billings and worked there until his retirement in 1994. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid golfer and loved to camp and fish. He loved to travel, visiting many of this country's parks and recreation areas. He is predeceased by his father (John), mother (Edythe), and his sister (Elaine). John is survived by his wife of 69 years, son Jeff, daughter Stacy, five grandchildren: Mike, Nicole, Stephanie, Erik, and Emily; 4 great-grandchildren: Ryder, Addylynn, Zoey, and Ashley. He was beloved by us all and will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, September 6th, 2024 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
