Michael Hutchinson

Michael was born in Billings, the 3rd of 4 sons born from Dev and Connie Perryman Hutchinson. He attended school in Billings, forging countless lasting friendships that he truly treasured along the way, then graduating from Senior High in 2005. He spent his younger years doing normal kid stuff, skateboarding, shooting hoops, playing with his brothers & friends, riding bikes, snowboarding with his buddy Justin, and being a goof, a trait he thankfully carried throughout his whole life. He was a character, and if he wasn't making you laugh, you just weren't paying close enough attention.

In the 5th grade at Highland Elementary he started playing the drums and he worked hard to become a great percussionist, later playing in pep band, marching band & jazz band in high school. He got to start playing in and forming garage bands with his friends and brothers.

In high school he helped with the creation of the band Existing Away. Where they played original music all over town. He eventually found himself in a band with some talented young fellows from Hardin called Dead Man's Hand. They spent a few years paying their dues in bars playing covers. He had a lot of fun playing those gigs, and he cherished those times, as evidenced by the stories he continued to tell about them for years to come. He was proud to be a part of that band.

Over the years, with many other friends, he joined and formed several other bands, Pi Fire and Urth were just a couple, and he was always willing and able to fill in with strangers when asked. In 2013 he got called to fill in at a gig with Chris Blattie, which led to a friendship, and they began playing gigs, recruiting brother Steve (Speedo) to thump the bass, and for the next 10 years the 3 of them played 100's and 100's and 100's of bars, dozens and dozens of weddings, and many other events together, having fun and generally raising hell all over eastern Montana. His favorite gigs were summer gigs on Tiny's Patio.

His friendship with Chris, circumstances and timing, also led him to his career as a Glassman, where he utilized his size, strength, and intelligence to become a very skilled and talented glazier. He was part of some very impressive projects, and if someone in the Billings area had a new shower door installed in the past 10 years, there's a very good chance that Mike installed it. He was recently working for Associated glass. His portfolio is beyond impressive, and he became a master craftsman, capable of doing the work of 3 men.

Considering all his achievements, Mike's highest priorities lay in his relationships with his family and friends. They trumped all else, starting with his Mom & Dad. He looked up to them so much, and he kept them very close throughout his life. They were also his biggest champions and supporters, always there to cheer him on. The bond he shared with his brothers was also one as strong as there ever was. They are giant men with giant hearts, and they shared all the good times, all the bad times, and everything in between. If you knew one of the Hutch boys, you knew all the Hutch boys. The loss of his brother Patrick in 2013, and his father Dev in 2020 hit him like a sledgehammer, but in true Hutch form, he eventually slung the weight of the pain over his shoulder and kept moving forward. He was a giant man.

Mike will live on through all the stories that will continue to be told about him, and you can help keep his memory alive by telling your stories about him throughout your own life. Say his name, say it often, and say it with a smile. He'd love that

Mike was preceded in his death by his brother Patrick, father Dev, his aunt Louise and uncles David and Brian

And is survived by his mother Connie, brothers Dan and Steve, nephew Jonus and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins

Services for Mike will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave. In Billings Montana at 11 o'clock AM on Saturday June 8th, 2024
