The man who was full of jokes, also helped others out of the darkness of soul they couldn't get out of alone. Teenage boys and young men cried at the loss of him in their lives.

I met Joe Winterman 36 years ago. He was a paranoid, bitter, offended, carry a gun, fearful man. He was JUST THE OPPOSITE man when he died, and he lived to help paranoid, bitter, offended, carry a gun kind of men, see there are "options" to that life. He was "dead" in his conscience, just like the good book talks about those who make excuses for blowing out that little still small voice of God in their conscience.

"The spirit in man is the candle of the Lord searching out our motives". Joe woke up in his conscience, and his life had great value to those who received him.

He took a ride with Gene Sullivan, and Gene "Fathered" him in all of his bad attitudes about God, people and himself, and the little boy you see who Gene took for a ride, cared for Joe the last months of his life. And that man, he's not a boy, will be eternally grateful for that time with him.
