We will surely miss this woman's feisty personality! Ann Marie Canape, 80, of Billings passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD. She was born November 21, 1936 in Potsdam, NY to Harold and Marion Tiernan. On October 20, 1956 she was joined in marriage to Tom Canape, Sr. Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom Sr., and their three children, daughter Patti (Neal) Erickson of Billings; son Tom Jr. (Susan) Canape of Laurel; and son Joe (Jamie) Canape of Yakima, WA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, Matt (Kristi) Erickson and their daughter Lennon; Katelyn Erickson (fiancé Andrew) and their son Charley, all of Billings; Jennifer Canape of Laurel; Tony (Alyssa) Canape and their daughter Avery of Butte; Megan Canape and her son Jahlil of Yakima, WA. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Shirley Tiernan of Missoula, MT and Cathy Tiernan of Myrtle Beach, FL; her New York family, sisters-in-law Barbara (George) Pough, Lucille (Bob) Whelan and Christine (Phil) Abitabile, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Donald and Charlie Tiernan; and grandson Craig Canape of Laurel. Special thank you to the RiverStone Hospice staff, especially Mary Ann, Amber, Judy and Nichole. Everyone was so helpful and caring during Ann's time of illness. Cremation has taken place with no services planned at this time. Memorial donations may be made to RiverStone Health or a charity of one's choice.

Ann is someone I have known my entire life and one I have always thought of and will never forget. I loved to hear her talk with her NY accent mixed in with a MT accent. She knew how to make you feel like the only person in a crowded room and you could hear her laugh a mile away, always knowing it was Ann. The Canape family has always held a special place in my heart. With so many wonderful memories of Ann, she will be sorely missed, yet always remembered for her spunk and one-of-a-kind sense of humor! Ann was a wonderful friend. She lived across the street from us in Billings and was always ready to help or to party. We had puppies together - our dog Summer and Ann and Tom's dog Hoss. We sat up most of the night watching as they were born - grandparents together! We moved away many years ago so only got to see her on rare occasions but she kept her great sense of humor and wonderful laugh.
