Geraldine McFerran

Geraldine (Jeri) D. (Logan) McFerran of Billings, Montana, peacefully left this world on August 11, 2024, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on January 10, 1947, in Billings to Lester and Alice (Armstrong) Logan, Jeri was the eldest of three siblings. Her childhood was filled with love and hard work on the family farm, where her younger brother loved to playfully tease her. In her adventurous spirit, Jeri once dared to tight-rope a barbed wire fence, an act that ended with an injury but exemplified her fearless nature and zest for life. She and her sister also shared joyful moments riding their horse, Toko, under fences and into neighboring pastures, often prompting calls from the neighbors.

Jeri graduated from Shepherd High School in 1965, during which time she met the love of her life, John. They were married on March 19, 1966, and together they built a life in Lockwood, where they created a warm and loving home. Jeri found immense joy in motherhood with the birth of her son, John (Pete), and later her daughters, Fawne and Kristeena (Kris). The family expanded with the birth of her youngest son, Lester, and the arrival of her beloved stepfather, Don Kitt.

In the midst of her busy life, Jeri delighted in family camping trips at West Rosebud and boating at Cooney Dam with her loved ones. Her passion for art led her to study at Eastern Montana College (now MSU-Billings), where she began creating beautiful pieces that continued to be cherished by her family for many years after.

A cancer survivor and a steadfast cornerstone of her family, Jeri's strength and love were constants throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alice, her stepfather Don Kitt, her sister-in-law Linda Logan, and her niece Karen Vanberg. Jeri is lovingly remembered by her sister Laura (Randy) of Laurel, brother Russell of Billings, son John (Nikki) of Billings, daughters Fawne (Ryan) of Roundup, Kristeena of Billings, and son Lester of Billings. Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren: Brandi, Rebecca, D.J. (Nicole), Cayse, and Alex, and her cherished great-grandchildren Charlie, Everlee, and Andrew. She is also remembered by her niece Abbey (Rob) and their son Tanner, nephew Eric and his children Jacob and Alyssa, and nephew Mark (Amber) and their children Andrew and Katrina, as well as many other extended family members and friends.

A service and celebration of Jeri's life will be held at South Park on August 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. We invite you to join us in wearing purple or turquoise, two of her favorite colors, and to bring a side dish to share in a picnic-style gathering as we honor and celebrate a life well-lived.
