Obituary

We lost our mom, grandma, & great-grandma August 29, 2024 after struggling with RA for so many years. Joanne (Homberger) Demars was born to John & Adele(Hodik) Hombeger September 12, 1940. She graduated Fergus High in 1958 in Lewistown, Mt. While in high school she met the love of her life Duane Demars.


They married June 14, 1958 in Lewistown. Their love brought them two daughters, Sheri & Brandi. They lived in Lewistown for some time before moving to Great Falls. They made their way to Billings where that became home for the next 55 yrs.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and our Dad who passed away seven years ago. She is survived by her daughters Sheri Lahti, Brandi Demars (finance, Bob Whitmer). Also survived by her granddaughters & great-grandkids; Stacey Barbeau( Eric Barbeau, grandson-in-law ) , Kelsey Payne. Her great-grandkids, Trevor & Kylie Barbeau. She cherished her granddaughters & great-grandkids. They were everything to her.


We love you so much & will have a huge void in our lives without you. You are home with Dad where you longed to be and belong.


We would like to send our appreciation to Riverstone Hospice for their compassionate care making her final days as comfortable and as pain free as possible. We also owe to everyone at Legacy Assisted Living. They were so good to her and loved her even when she got a little cranky, they were our rock too. They became family. Thank you so much, from Joanne's family.

Joanne and Duane were neighbors two houses down from 1971 to 2021 when we moved to Tucson (50 years). Our daughter Michelle and their daughter Brandi were friends. We all had a love of old cars and shared the neighborhood with several friends who lived in the Kale subdivision from its inception to recently. Joanne deeply missed Duane and I am sure she is delighted to be with him again. Our prayers are with her daughters. Dee and Al Martenson
