Donna Boileau

Donna Boileau, born on January 27, 1937, in the Philippines at Clark Airforce Base, was the cherished daughter of Fred and Helen Staedler. Donna was raised in Missoula, Montana, surrounded by a loving network of cousins and close friends she considered her family. Her early years were filled with joy, laughter, and a healthy amount of mischief, attending Willard Grade School and later, Missoula County High School, where she graduated in 1953. After graduation, Donna began a fulfilling career working at an auto parts store, the Missoula Mercantile, and, much later, the U.S. Forest Service.

On March 3, 1959, Donna married George J. Boileau, the love of her life, whom she met through mutual friends. Together, they shared a beautiful 65-year marriage and were blessed with four children. They treasured their life together, spending their early years traveling for their children's swim competitions, and later, in retirement, exploring destinations such as Hawaii, New Orleans, and Cancun with beloved friends and family.

While she enjoyed her professional life, Donna's role as a mother to her four children was her greatest passion and purpose. Motherhood was the true joy of her life, her unwavering love and dedication to her family evident in every milestone celebrated and challenge faced. Donna was her children's fiercest supporter, beginning each day at 5 a.m. for swim practice and ending it at dance, gymnastics, band, guitar, piano, or any other activity her children pursued. She taught her children the importance of caring, sharing, strength, and self-advocacy, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

Donna's compassionate presence extended far beyond her family, encompassing her community and her network of friends. She embodied faith and service, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and to ensure everyone was cared for. Her famous soups never ceased to find their way to those under the weather and her Christmas cookies became a staple in countless households. Donna's generous spirit was a constant in many lives.

Donna was also a proud and doting grandmother to Katelyn Weldon, Helen Weldon, and Nikolaus Boileau. The grandchildren fondly remember her whimsical games like “money mountain” or “pirates” and will never forget the self-proclaimed “rebel's” colorful childhood stories. Her energy was boundless, her love unconditional, and her impact on their lives immeasurable.

Donna was blessed with two beloved brothers, Michael Springmann and Fred Staedler, whom she held dear.

On September 15th, 2024, Donna passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in the quiet of a late summer morning. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity. She was a fierce champion for those she loved and an irreplaceable force of kindness. Though we grieve her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is resting in peace and remains a part of us.

Donna is survived by her husband, George, brothers Michael and Fred, children Kevin, Michael (Ute), Leslie (Jeff), and Timothy and her three precious grandchildren, Katelyn, Helen, and Nikolaus. Preceding her in death were her parents, Helen and Fred Staedler, her stepmother, Marylee Staedler, and numerous cousins.

A private burial will be held, with Donna's ashes laid to rest beside her mother's grave. A celebration of Donna's life will take place at a reception on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cambium Place, 945 Wyoming Street, Missoula, MT.
