Brian Haw

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend Brian Goiens Haw. Brian passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2024 leaving a void that his family cannot fill.

Brian was born to Stanley and Barbara Haw on June 19, 1962. Brian lived his rambunctious young life near Fort Smith, MT as the youngest of four sons. These early years on their ranch left a great impression on Brian. The family moved to Billings, MT in 1972 where Brian attended Boulder Elementary, Broadwater Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and Billings Senior High School where he made life-long friends. After graduation in 1981, he worked at Quad Five Ranch with a brief stint at MSU and then back to work at Transbas Inc. in Lockwood. During this time, he also joined the Marine Corps Reserve 4th Reconnaissance Battalion where he proudly served his country and conducted all of his duties with honor. Recognizing his outstanding organizational skills and work ethic, Herman Wessel tapped him to help build two new ventures in 1983 – Yellowstone International and Scentry Inc. Brian led production efforts in these nutraceutical and insect pheromone businesses for several years with a precision that would mark the rest of his professional life. In 1987, he decided to pursue his degree in Computer Science at Indian Hills College in Ottumwa, IA. Brian then worked as a computer project manager all across the country until his passing.

Brian had one love of his life who was his high school sweetheart, Karri Wessel. Through all the years, he knew in his heart that there was no one else for him and he patiently waited for her. They sealed their love in Denver, CO on November 28, 1997. Karri and Brian moved to Helena, MT in 2000 where he continued working in the computer software industry. On August 25, 2001, they were blessed with their son, Herman, who they love dearly. They loved attending his youth hockey games and Speech and Debate meets when he was in high school. With Herman off to attend the University of Montana, the couple moved to Red Lodge, MT in 2021 which was a favorite location since their childhood.

Brian loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, golf, camping, Colorado Avalanche hockey, hiking and traveling with Herman and Karri. He took great pride in his military service as a Marine. He greatly enjoyed doing the “circuit” with his golf buddies and was known to wet a fly line from time to time. He enjoyed camping at Woodbine and up the West Fork of Rock Creek. A devoted Griz fan, he loved to attend games with Herman to cheer on their team.

Brian was proceeded in death by his parents Stan and Barb Haw, he is survived by his loving wife Karri W. Haw and his cherished son Herman G. Haw; his brothers Chris (Tatjana), Craig (Holly), and Jim (Kathy) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Brian's departure comes as a great shock and is deeply felt by his entire family and community. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed Brian's family is to have his church, Red Lodge Alliance Chapel, family, and friends that have been there for them through this difficult time. If you so choose, the family asks that you contribute in memory of Brian to Red Lodge Alliance Church in lieu of flowers.

There will be a celebration of life held at 10:30am on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Red Lodge Alliance Chapel, 905 Broadway Ave S, Red Lodge, MT 59068
