Obituary
Clifford John Mack was born on April 12, 1942, in Grand Forks, North Dakota and passed away on September 24, 2024, at St. John's United in Billings, Montana at the age of 82 following a two-year battle with prostate cancer.
Cliff grew up alongside his twin brother Clayton and two older sisters on the family farm in East Grand Forks, Minnesota and fondly told many stories of his life there. He was proud alum of Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Cliff's life was rooted in his faith from the beginning and in his early twenties he joined The Congregation of the Holy Cross Society of Brothers. He was stationed first at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas and later taught at a Rolling Prairie, Indiana school for boys which was attached to Notre Dame University. After his parents moved to Billings, he decided to join them and began working at the Billings Clinic Dialysis Center. Cliff became chief dialysis technician and continued to work there for 43 years until he retired in 2016.
Cliff's love of sports and dedication to his community led him to become a member of the local High School Football Association of Officials. H loved every minute of the 38 years he officiated with his dear friends and fellow referees. Cliff was an undeterred Minnesota Vikings, Notre Dame, Billings Central High devotee and a diehard hockey fan.
Cliff loved to sing. He was involved in a barber shop quartet and loved singing his praises in many a church choir. He sang in choir until his last days.
In 2004, he married Michele Amen and they started a new adventure together which usually included lots of fun, travel, golf, food, family, and friends.
Cliff is preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Ella Mack, twin brother Clayton Mack, and his wife Sharon, and brother-in-law, Ed Parks.
Cliff is survived by his wife Michele Amen Mack, adopted daughter Misty Mack, stepdaughter Molly Amen Spaeny (Darrell), stepson Bill Amen (Amanda), seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, sisters Audrey Parks and Beverly Mack (Joe), numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends that he dearly loved.
All who loved him will miss his passion for life, his stories, his wicked giggle, and his warmth.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff and care givers at St. John's Transitional Rehabilitation Center for the remarkable care they gave to Cliff while he was there and to Dahl Funeral Chapel for their considerate service in honoring his final requests.
Funeral Mass for Cliff Mack will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday October 29, 2024, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 717 18th Street West, Billings, MT 59102.
