Lula Sharbono

Lula Ann (DelCamp) Sharbono of Fairview, MT went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2024 in Billings, MT. She was born July 10, 1931 in Hardin, Montana to Schuyler and Mable (Swaby) DelCamp. She always went by Ann. When she was 14, the family moved to Yellowstone County from Hardin. Being the oldest girl in a family of 8 children, Ann spent a lot of her time helping take care of the youngest siblings, often toting them around on her hips while she helped with chores. She also helped her dad with his mail route. Ann would often share stories of things that happened on that route. When she was 17 she left home to attend Bible College in Minot, ND. About a year and a half later, she went to Temple, Texas to stay with her sister-in-law while her brother, Melvin, served in the military overseas. When she came back to Montana she visited Darlene, her Bible School roommate, and met Darlene's brother, Lavern Sharbono. They quickly became a couple and married on August 30, 1953 in Hardin, MT. They settled in the Missoula area and started their family. She spent her days raising their children, later relocating to Nibbe, Ballentine, then the Sidney area, and finally settling in Fairview for the remainder of her life. Together they raised 9 children. She always had a house full of kids, whether her own or extras that her family brought home with them. She always had pets of some kind in her home. She and Lavern often enjoyed motorcycle riding together. After he passed away, she worked in the Fairview grocery store as a baker.

Ann had a strong love for the Lord and she always stood firm in her faith. She loved gardening and, even at 93, Ann kept a garden and continued to do her own yard work. She was independent and still drove herself wherever she needed to go, including to Billings for doctor's appointments and visits with family. Ann enjoyed rock picking, reading, and traveling to see her siblings, children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She traveled with her sister Joyce to American Legion Auxiliary conventions and even some National Conventions serving as a delegate. She also loved making poppies to be distributed by the American Legion. She made around 20,000 a year, saving the poppy program.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband (Lavern), parents Schuyler and Mable, her brother Melvin, sisters Jean, Bettie, and Alice, and daughter Sandy (Dan) Lightner of Helena. She is survived by her siblings, Joyce Babcock of Custer, Mack DelCamp (Audrey) of Huntley, and Gordan (Ginger) DelCamp of Central Point, Oregon, her children Debbie (Milo) Lamphier of Thompson Falls, Dennis (Peggy) Sharbono of Billings, Wayne (Mona) Sharbono of Ocala, Florida, Sharon (Lyle) Carlson of Fairview, Kevin (Lisa) Sharbono of Billings, Nancy (Jeff) Gross of Fairview, Donna (Sid) Mauch of Billings, Karan (Duane) Winter of Williston, North Dakota and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Her service will be held in Billings at the Chapel of Hope (2425 US Hwy 87 E, Billings) on Friday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. Her internment will be at the Sidney Cemetery on Saturday, January 4th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideons.
