Obituary

Sadly, our beloved, Jesusita “Jessie” Chonita Haydal, of Billings, Montana, passed away unexpectedly on January 7th, 2025, at the age of 62.

Jessie was born on May 31, 1962, to Jose and Ramona Moralez, of Pompeys Pillar, Montana. After graduating high school from Huntley Project in 1980, she moved to Billings where she worked at the Empire Bar. It was at her workplace where she caught her future husband's eye. After spending time getting to know her and several long love letters later, he won her heart. The two were married in 1984 and had their first child, Danielle in that same year, followed by Hans in 1987, Corrina in 1995, and Destinee in 1999.

Among Jessie's most significant accomplishments was raising her four children, whom she held as her pride and joy. Once the grandchildren came along, they became the center of her world. There was never a day that went by when she didn't brag about her four beautiful grandbabies. She was a supportive and loving mother and grandmother, whose family was her sole focus. She worried over each member, and took care of them until the end, most times to the exclusion of her own needs. She loved everyone who was close to her, including their quirks. She rooted for them, protected them, resented them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them no matter what.

Jessie's home was always filled with warmth and kindness. Anyone and everyone was welcome at any time. She always approached others with an open mind and never judged others. She had an insane capacity for love of all the children that entered her life. She always treated her friend's children, her children's friends, and any youth in need of a sense of security like they were her own. She always made them feel as though they were part of the family and many times stepped in as the role of being a second mom.

Jessie could readily be found at home ‘jammin' to her favorite music. She loved music, all of it, which ranged from REO Speedwagon to Albert Collins to Amy Winehouse even to Eminem. If she wasn't at home, she could be found treasuring time spent in the company of her friends, rock hounding or shopping at local consignment shops. Jessie was blessed with a green thumb, and knew tricks for growing the perfect tomatoes or how to transplant flowers. She loved to cook and was great at canning. She made endless jars of pickles, that everyone always wanted to have. Jessie loved to read, book after book, and was ready with excitement to tell you about the latest Zombie series she was reading. She would also keep herself busy playing games on her iPad, collecting rocks, crocheting, or being involved in some other crafty hobby. She cherished her dog Honey, her chickens, and her grandpups; making sure to buy even all the doggies Christmas gifts every year.

Jessie hated mice, snakes and “stupid people”.

Jessie Haydal's legacy is one of unyielding thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. Even with little to spare, she was always willing to give and help others. The loss of Jessie is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and passion for giving in those whose lives she touched. The significant impact of Jessie's kindness continues after her passing. In honor of her final act, Jessie gave the gift of sight to two individuals through her organ and tissue donation.

To her daughter Danielle, she leaves her kind and compassionate heart, and Danielle will be able to do anything she sets her mind to. To her son Hans, she leaves her amazing strength and fighting soul, and Hans will always be ready for another challenge. To her daughter Corrina, she leaves her strong will and fighting spirit, and Corrina will always be able to face challenges with resilience. To her daughter Destinee, she leaves her loyal nature and compassion, and Destinee will achieve great things in life.

Jessie is joined in rest by her parents Jose and Ramona Moralez. She is survived by her brother John Moralez; her children Danielle Allen (Corey), Hans Haydal (Kendra), Corrina Haydal (Preston), and Destinee Bustillo (Martin); her grandchildren Nathaniel Allen Haydal, Logan John Haydal, Micah Connor Haydal, and Harlyn Ramona Allen; several loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and her ride or die best friends Auliea Hanlon, Debbie Cureton, Michelle Basgall, and Lorrie Helgeson.

I remember the time she called me and sang Happy Birthday to me and hung up right after she finished the song. I will never forget her light hearted sense of humor, her kind, bright smile and her contagious laugh.
