Gregg Hunter

Gregg Alan Hunter, 45 years old of Billings, MT, went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2025. Born on July 5th, 1979, in Billings, MT, Gregg was the beloved son of Milo Hunter and Janice (Swenson) Hunter and brother to Nancy Hunter.

Gregg grew up in Fairview, MT where he attended grade school and middle school. The family moved during his high school years to Wahpeton, ND where Gregg graduated with his diploma in May 1998. After graduating from Wahpeton Senior High, Gregg and his parents moved to Williston, ND where Gregg studied computer sciences at Williston State College. He graduated in Spring 2001 with three degrees - Associates Degree in Arts; Associates Degree in Science; Associates Degree in Applied Science - Computer Systems Specialist.

During his growing up years, Gregg enjoyed growing up on the family ranch in Fairview, with sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs in abundance; Butch and Queenie (named after Queen Elizabeth II) were favorite dogs of Gregg's. He had fun driving the snowmobiles and four wheelers around the farm, sledding down local hills in the winter and fishing in the summer. In second grade, Gregg was a member of Boy Scouts. As he grew older, Gregg sang in the school choir. Gregg was an avid piano player and was grateful to have Ellen Croy as his instructor. He was baptized in 1979 and confirmed in 1994 at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Clyde Seifert.

As an adult, Gregg loved to sing and was active in Joy Lutheran Church, providing the baritone line to the hymns. He genuinely enjoyed getting to know and visiting with people and was also known to be a giver of good hugs! He liked cheering on the Billings Mustangs during baseball season and followed various soccer clubs from around the world. Multiple years prior to his passing, he wrote a section of a book his sister hopes to publish in his honor, which explores the reality of living with Aspergers, a form of autism.

Surviving Gregg is father, Milo and sister Nancy. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janice.

Beyond his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and long-time family friends, the greater community of Billings also supported him. The Hunter Family would like to acknowledge the love and support of Gregg's friends at Grandview Apartments in Billings, the extensive customer service team at Stockman Bank on Grand Avenue, the caregivers at HomeCare Montana and members of Joy Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at Joy Lutheran Church, 3200 Broadwater Avenue in Billings, on Friday, January 31st at 11 am. Lunch will follow the service in the church annex, the Unsell Activity Center. Please note: Joy Lutheran shares the worship space of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, so please look for the Seventh Day Adventist Church when finding directions online.
