Harvey Metzker

Harvey Gene Metzker passed away peacefully at his home on January 16, 2025.

He was born on April 2, 1939, in Ontario, Oregon, to John George and Katherine (Gross) Metzker. Harvey spent his childhood farming in eastern Montana and attended elementary school in Newton and Gage. He later graduated from high school in Roundup, Montana.

In 1959, Harvey joined the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for 2½ years in Germany during the Cold War. He was stationed with the 88th and 85th Ordnance Companies and was honorably discharged in 1962.

After his military service, Harvey worked in Seattle, Washington, for Boeing Aircraft Manufacturing. During his time in Seattle, he married Carol Bolick, and they welcomed their son, Kevin. In 1971, Harvey relocated to Billings, Montana, where he worked at Empire Steel & Manufacturing until his retirement in 2004. In 1975, he married Susan (Polich) Metzker of Roundup.

Harvey was known for his remarkable mechanical skills—there was little he couldn’t fix. He found great joy in woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine; his wife, Susan; his brothers, John Jr., Donald, and Robert; and his sisters, Dorothy and Betty Anne. He is survived by his son Kevin (Carol); his stepson Paul (Susan); his stepdaughter Kristin (Susan); and his grandchildren, Craig and Shelby (Paul).

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral. A graveside memorial service will be held at Roundup Memorial Cemetery in Roundup, MT, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at Harvey’s home in Billings, where family and friends are welcome to gather and share memories.
