Richard Matheson

Richard L. Matheson, born in Billings, Montana, to Ronald and Nancy Matheson, passed away on February 10, 2025. He grew up in the picturesque landscapes of Wasilla and Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to his roots in Billings.

Rick had a profound passion for helping animals, often taking in stray cats and dogs, reflecting his kind-hearted nature. However, his greatest love was for motorcycles, and he cherished the exhilarating experiences of attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

He dedicated many years of his life to caring for his mother, Nancy, until her passing in 2017. After her death, he lovingly looked after her dog, Rhodie, who sadly passed just days before Rick.

Rick faced the loss of his Uncle Larry Matheson at Christmas time, a loss that weighed heavily on his heart.

He is survived by his father, Ronald W. Matheson of Billings, Montana; his sisters, Rhonda Matheson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Jackie Brown (James) of McHenry, Kentucky; his nieces, Alexia McCabe (Evan) of Champagne, Illinois, and Christia Kransky of McHenry, Kentucky; as well as several uncles, aunts, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

Richard's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His legacy of compassion and adventure will be remembered fondly.

There will be a celebration held at a later date in the spring.
