Garrett Peters

Garrett Warner Peters, 87 of Billings died peacefully surrounded by his family, on February 15, 2025. Gary was born in Wolf Point, MT the youngest child of Alma and Bert Peters.

Gary had a strong work ethic, he always believed that a person should do the best job possible. He passed this on to his children. One year Gary and his brother Palmer built a runway for their father it was 100 ft wide and 1600 ft long. Their pay was a saddle for Christmas. Gary was always willing to help family and friends with projects. He loved to take things apart and fix them, no matter how long it would take. He always had a project in the works. He was a life-long learner and enjoyed taking classes on the latest technology.

He even shared them with family, sending information and access to classes he thought would help them in school.

After graduating from high school in Wolf Point, he traveled around the country before joining the U.S. Navy. He served for 4 years as an Interior Communications Electrician. After leaving the Navy Gary went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone as a central office equipment installer. He installed telephone offices all over the state of Montana until his retirement in 1986. Never a man to sit still Gary went to work in the blossoming cellular phone industry. He worked for Ericsson Telecommunications and Marconi Communications installing equipment for cellphone towers around the world until 2000 when he retired. Gary never did retire completely he was always busy doing something, he operated a coffee wagon and worked as a rural letter carrier.

Gary was proud that he built his own home in Florence. He encouraged family and friends to give him a hand when they had time. He always wanted to share his knowledge and skills. He loved to work on automobiles and other mechanical engines. If there was a problem, he would fix it.

Gary loved the outdoors and was always happiest when he was fishing or hunting with family and friends. His greatest joy was taking his children and grandchildren with him.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Siobhan of Billings, and his children Kari (Randy) Wilson, Kent, Keystone (Keli), Suzanna, Mariah, and Crispin. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Bert Peters, mother Alma (Pipal) Peters Hall, stepfather Arthur Hall, brother Palmer, sister-in-law Maryanne, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of Gray's life will be held on May 24, 2025, at the Billings Elks Lodge No. 394 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Gary was proud to be a member of the Elks for many years. Join us as we gather to share memories and stories of the man, we all loved.
