Obituary

John Adam Hefenieder, 65, died on March 8, 2025, after a short illness. The first son of Adam Hefenieder and Irene Heisler Hefenieder, John joined sisters Ann and Jane; brother David followed later.


He graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1978 and worked a variety of jobs as a young man. He was a talented automatic pinsetter mechanic, working at various bowling alleys in the area. He worked many years at Town and Country and finished his career at Sunset Bowl, where Frank Pratt was his favorite boss.


He met Patty Parsons, and they had a daughter, Morgan, in 1992. Though the relationship did not last, he had many visits with Morgan while she was young, and made a trip to San Antonio to visit her there.


He loved to fish and camp. He tinkered with engines and had a model RC airplane. He spent time a couple of years catching motorcycles at the annual hill climb. He is survived by his daughter Morgan, and his siblings Ann Hefenieder (Greg Ocker), Jane Spomer (Brent), and Dave Hefenieder (Joyce).

Darn shame losing Hef. We had some great times over the decades. the N Y C gang of 4, Dwight Martinson, Ron Grimm, me and Hef. Bowling and pitchers of B.V. cokes afterwards!! R I P MY FRIEND.

I have a lot of great memory’s with John . A great trip on motorcycles through Yellowstone Park. Many camping trips and hot pot trips at Gardiner. I worked with John on his Firebird. We stripped the old faded paint down to bare metal and primed it. John was always up to giving a hand to those in need. Terry
