Obituary

Stacy Lorraine Severson-Ortloff, 61, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Yellowstone River rehabilitation and nursing on April 4, 2026, following a rare illness of PSP.

Stacy was born on May 3, 1964, to Robert Dale Severson and Peggy Lorraine (Boyce) Severson in Williston, North Dakota. She spent her youth living in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Utah, and North Dakota, eventually graduating from Williston High School in 1982 and continuing her education at Williston State College and Minot State University.

After relocating to Billings, Montana, with her children, Stacy returned to school to become a nail technician and artist. As a natural-born artist, she loved to paint pictures and Christmas ornaments, and she was well-known for the beautiful work she provided to her large clientele. In 2018, Stacy and her daughter, Chelsy, opened their own salon at Sola Salon Studios. Together, they built a successful business and many lasting friendships.

Stacy was a beautiful person, inside and out, with a gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that could light up any room. She loved to travel, cherishing a week-long trip to Belgium with her daughter and grandson, Syd, as well as several memorable trips to Las Vegas with her cousin, Donna Severson. For her 50th birthday, they celebrated at the Bellagio, fulfilling her dream of staying in a room with a fountain view.

Proud of her Norwegian heritage, Stacy was dedicated to passing traditions down to her family. She loved to cook and was particularly passionate about making Norwegian meatballs, Lefsa, and canning chokecherry syrup. She also took great pride in decorating her home for holidays, especially during her favorite, Christmas.

Stacy is survived by her daughter; Chelsy Houser, son-in-law, Christopher Houser, and grandson, Syd, of Billings, Montana; her son, Shawn Dean Ortloff, wife Emilie Ortloff, and grandsons, Brady and Dawson, of Mesa, Arizona; and her stepfather, LeRoy Greenshields, of Mesa, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Dale Severson; her mother, Peggy Lorraine Boyce Greenshields; and her brother, Danny Dale Severson.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 12th at 5:00 pm at Golden Meadows Club House with refreshments Stacy's favorite color was green and her favorite flower was white Daisies. So please wear green in remembrance of our dear Stacy.

Stacy is gone but will not be forgotten.
