Earl Husby

Earl Arthur Husby, age 82, of Billings, MT, passed away on March 24, 2025. Born in Malta, Montana on May 14, 1942 to Viola and Earl Husby the youngest of three children. He joined the United States Navy Reserve in February 1963 and was discharged Honorably in January 1965. Once out of the Navy, he moved to Helena, Montana where he worked at the Conoco Bulk Plant. He met the love of his life Carolyn in 1971 while she was caring for his mother at the hospital. He was married later that year on May 28th, 1971 and celebrated 50 years together in 2021. Through this marriage, he took on Carolyn's three children, John, Rosalie, and Terrie. In 1972, they welcomed a daughter together, Lydette Kelly Husby.

In the early 90's they moved to Billings, where he continued his career at US West until his retirement in 1997. He was known for his jokes and sense of humor, often teasing and laughing with others. He enjoyed trap shooting where he took home several trophies and awards. He made his famous shrimp salad that was the hit of every gathering in his famous “orange” bowl. He loved his grand-children and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Intermountain Health's nursing staff who took care of Earl during his final days and to his friend, Vicki LaFurge who had a special place in his and Carolyn's hearts. He will be missed greatly.

Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn and his daughter Lydette. He is survived by his children John, Rosalie (Wade), Terrie (Dean), grandchildren Brittany, Jenna, Dylan, Cassidy, Hanna, Bre, and Erica, and great grandchildren, Harper, Beckett, Amaya, Brice Jr. and Wesley.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Carolyn at the Hillview Cemetery in Hinsdale, Montana.
