Obituary
Marilyn Elizabeth Cullen, age 88, of Billings, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Marilyn was born on April 18, 1936, to Frank and Kathryn Lefor in Glendive, Montana, and graduated from Dawson County High School Class of 1954.
On April 20, 1963, Marilyn married Francis (Frank) Cullen, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage until his passing. She was a devoted mother to daughters Patti (Lyle) Nelson and Cathy (Kris) Kuhr, and a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren Katelyn (Derek), Logan, Madison (Andrew), Kristyn (Jared), Gavin, Jake, Amanda, James and Aaron. She adored eight great-grandchildren Keegan, Eleanor, Hunter, Kenley, Cullen, Preston, Cason, and Xzavier, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of her ninth great-grandchild.
Marilyn was deeply committed to her faith and family. Her love for Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she found joy in connecting with people, hosting gatherings, and making others feel loved and seen. She enjoyed reading, crafting, traveling with Global Grannies, cheering on the Denver Broncos, and playing cards or bingo with family and friends. Marilyn was also a long-time member of Mary Queen of Peace Parish and the South Side Senior Citizens Center.
She had a passion for serving others, demonstrated throughout her career and her ability to bring people together. She worked in various roles throughout her life, always putting others first and creating a sense of community.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cullen, her parents, Frank and Kathryn Lefor; her brother, Bob Lefor; and many cherished friends.
Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the amazing medical team at St. Vincent Healthcare – especially the 5th Floor Fortin and 3rd Floor Fortin teams – for their care and support of Mom and our family. Their compassion and dedication to making Mom comfortable will not be forgotten. Also, we would like to thank our special friends, Ruth & Lee Killman for being such a wonderful part of Mom's life.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary and Vigil at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Parish, 3411 Third Ave S, Billings, MT 59101 with a luncheon immediately following at Hampton Inn & Suites, 3550 Ember Lane, Billings, MT. A private internment will take place later this summer.
