Obituary

Mia Grace, a radiant soul whose life defied the odds, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her family on March 25th at the age of 10. Born on January 8, 2015, Mia was a miracle from the very start, showing us all what strength, resilience, and joy truly mean. Her journey was never easy, but her spirit was unyielding. We weren't sure we would get to keep her for ten minutes or ten hours, but by the grace of God, we were blessed with ten incredible years.

From the moment she entered our lives, Mia brought an incomparable light with her. Her smile, laugh, and contagious joy have left an indelible mark on everyone who has had the privilege of knowing her. Her courage in the face of adversity was a testament to the strength of her will, and her determination to keep going despite the challenges inspired all who loved her.

The kidney transplant Mia received at age 3 gave her the chance to continue living, learning, and thriving in ways we never imagined. Though doctors warned us that time might be limited, the transplant allowed her to defy the odds, giving us more time together than we ever imagined. Twice, doctors thought her kidney might be rejecting, and twice, they were wrong. Mia was a fighter, proving time and again that she would live life on her own terms.

Throughout her life, Mia showed an amazing ability to connect with others. Whether through her vibrant use of sign language, her love of dancing, or her ability to bring people together at concerts, she taught us all how to live fully. Mia's love for life was contagious—from riding the fastest roller coasters, driving the car with Mimi, riding in the side by side with Pa, dancing to Baby Shark, signing Wheels on the Bus, or simply playing with her sisters and friends, Mia embraced every moment with enthusiasm and joy.

Mia was a fourth grader at Lockwood Intermediate School. With the incredible support she received, Mia flourished at school. She loved going to school, learning new things, and making friends. She was beloved at school by students and teachers alike, and she taught them as much as they taught her.

Mia's journey was also filled with challenges. From the repeated surgeries and health setbacks to the traumatic experiences with medical procedures, she faced it all with remarkable strength. Her spirit never wavered, and each obstacle she overcame made her even more remarkable. Mia was a constant reminder that love, perseverance, and faith in one another can carry us through even the toughest of times.

Mia's impact on those around her cannot be overstated. She taught us all to appreciate life's small joys, to cherish the moments we have, and to always keep fighting. While we will miss her every single day, we find comfort in knowing that Mia's legacy of strength, joy, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. We will always remember to #LiveLikeMiaKennedy

We are so grateful to have had these ten years with you, Mia. We're so glad God let us keep you. You gave us more time than we could have ever hoped for, and our hearts are forever full because of you. You were, and always will be, our shining star.

Mia is survived by her loving parents, Lisa and David, sisters Madelynn and Marlee, grandparents Barbara and Scott Horton and Matt and Cindy Kennedy, Aunts and uncles Allison Horton, Rachel Kincaid (Skyler), Sara (David) Mutch, Jessica (David) Alvarado, and Casey (Josh) Hickey, cousins Kennedy, Noah, Hadassah, Anya, Evelyn, Caleb, Selah, and Sophia, and countless friends who will continue to hold her memory close.

A celebration of Mia's life will be held at 11 am, Saturday April 5, 2025 at Faith E Church (3145 Sweet Water Dr. Billings, MT 59102) where we will gather to honor and remember this beautiful, fearless girl who taught us how to love without limits.

Mia, we love you more than words can express. You were our miracle, our joy, and our forever inspiration.
