November 05, 1949 - April 27, 2025
Obituary
Douglas Lyle Graves (Doug), 75 of Billings, Montana, went to his eternal home on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 5th, 1949, to Melvin Graves and Ethel (Teena) Hanrahan in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Doug faithfully began each day in God's word, which he took with him in his daily walk. He had an innate sense of knowing when people needed a listening ear. He would make time for anyone, sharing his story and faith. He was a shepherd to many through Harvest Church Ministries, including Homeless Ministry, Divorce Care, Celebrate Recovery, and preparing and serving meals to the homeless. Doug was a talented leather craftsman and worked as a Truck Driver before his retirement. He had a love for rodeo announcing and enjoyed announcing with his dad.
Doug married Virginia Hyde in 1968 and together were blessed with 6 children. He later married Carol Graves (no relation) in 1990 and was blessed with 3 more daughters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin, and his parents, Lyle and Ethel Graves, and Teena Hanrahan.
He is survived by his wife Carol. Sisters Sheila (Ross), Sharon (Charlie), Lyndee, Cindy (Tim). Children: Jamie (Chris), Danny (Micky), Jodi (Dennis), Richard, Tricia (Scott), Jen (Dan), Karena (Jason), and Justin (Alison). 37 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was loved by countless friends and family who will miss him dearly.
Doug had a huge heart. Making connections and relationships was very important to him. He shared the light of Jesus!
His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” – Matthew 25:23

Doug will be missed, I worked with him for several years as his dispatcher while he was trucking with FedEx Ground. Such a great spirit, always had a good attitude and made my evenings brighter when he would walk through the door to go on his trips. Sorry for your loss, loved some of his stories and again just a GOOD human that made people smile. The trucking world is full of growly men and Doug wasn't that way, he was always kind no matter the weather conditions and trip he had to take. Glad to have known him:)

Although I met Doug late in life, and new him for a short time. His sense of humor and his likability stood out to me. Two great traits to have. My condolences to the Grave's family!
