Obituary
An extraordinary man and community leader, Kevin Davis Sr., born on March 31, 1950, in Billings MT, was called home by the Lord to eternal fishing waters on Friday, December 29, 2023 in Billings.
Kevin was a veteran from the Army and extended a great career as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. He was fortunate to be able to retire at a young age in order to be present for the growth of his children and live life to it's fullest. He was rarely at home but rather keeping busy with his children's activities, working on various handyman projects with his friends and family, exploring all Billings had to offer, and casting a fly on any puddle or stream he could find. He was very active in leadership with the Breakfast Exchange Club and the Magic City Fly Fishing Club.
Kevin Davis graduated from Billings Senior and then joined the Army in 1968, enjoying jumping from helicopters and seeing different parts of the county plus learning new skills. He ended his service in the Army as a Sgt. E5 with the 82nd Airborne. He began his work as a Deputy US Marshal in 1971. He married that same year and had three children, one of which who passed away at a young age in 1987. Kevin later remarried Cheryl Dolch in 1985 having Kevin Jr. and Sean. He retired in 2000.
Kevin is a long-time leader of Magic City Fly Fishers and a driver of their youth program, including building the prominent Youth Fly Fishing Camp held every June and expanding fly tying for young people in most of the Billings area middle schools. Kevin's genuine love for young people and dedication to helping them learn the skills of fly fishing and ethics of such was a joy to watch. We owe a lot to Kevin and the immense influence he has had, said the Magic City Fly Fishers.
Kevin invested great time in volunteering for the Breakfast Exchange Club helping generate many donations for the community. He was a Cub Scout Leader for many years and later helped many Boy Scouts achieve their Eagle Scout in assisting with their projects. He certainly spent a lot of time fishing and helping friends, as well as loved ones, with various home projects. Not a tool he did not have nor a problem he could not fix.
His fond memories are of seeing his children grow and mature and spending time with his soulmate Cheryl. He traveled to many places as a Deputy US Marshal dealing with some very infamous people. He loved to fish and help others enjoy this hobby as well. Kevin passed as a true hero in his service, his career, and his community influence. He was passionate about life and shared his joy and enthusiasm with everyone he encountered.
His parents now passed Bud and Margaret Davis and son Christopher. Sister Allison, uncles Gee Ennis, Jack Ennis, and aunts Moreen, Margaret and Betty.
He leaves behind his Stepmother Pat Davis, Wife Cheryl, children Kellie, Casey, Kevin (Cassi), and Sean (Melinda), brothers Ford (Jenny), Rex Andreasen (Marietta), Chad Andreasen (Lisa), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as friends who became extended family.
Arrangements will be conducted by Dahl's Funeral Home and the funeral will be held at St. Bernard's Friday, January 12th at 10am with graveside services at the National Veterans Cemetery in Laurel following the funeral at 2pm.
