Always in view of the mountains, Grand Teton, or Chief Mountain.
Bucking Horse in the old board bucking chutes, slender cowboy of Shoshone Black Feet blood, rosens riggin to set on the wild bucking brood. Chute gate swings open, horses explode skyward. Jack digs his spurs in the neck inward. Spur rolls make a hissing, zipping sound back toward his riggin. Then flying back to the neck and shoulders. He would sit straight up looking at the bronc from down his nose.
The buckles he won back then were made of real silver. He rode saddle broncs just as good.
He wrote proposals smudged in cedar smoke which yield money for the betterment of the red man.
Jack's spirit will forever be around the campfires along the Snake River and in the first light touching Chief Mountain.
