Anthony Joseph LoSasso, Sr., fondly remembered as Tony, found eternal peace on June 24, 2021. He was 52. Tony lived in Billings, MT, this last year, where he suffered a pulmonary embolism followed by cardiac arrest. As an organ donor, he helped save at least three lives. He waged a noble battle against adult-onset diabetes and neuropathy, conditions that led to multiple surgeries and often overwhelming pain, which he endured admirably. Raised in Niles, IL, and for nearly two decades a resident of Krugerville, TX, before moving to Montana, Tony was an outspoken Chicago Blackhawks fan and amassed dozens of jerseys to prove it, certain the team's logo was the league's best. Also an avid CD collector, he revered the band Creed over its many contemporaries. Tony developed a passion for barbecuing when his children were young and the family resided in Wonder Lake, IL. There, he embraced the patience it took to perfect his technique, first smoking the meat for hours, then grilling to perfection. But most of all, and by all accounts, Tony loved spending time with his children in the backyard pool he meticulously maintained. Although Tony will never experience poolside joy with his grandsons, Eli and Jose, their mother will no doubt share with the boys a story from her own childhood once they are old enough to appreciate how reminiscence can reverberate with pride. It's the memory of Tony driving her and her brother, Anthony, past rolling farm fields in his old red truck, playing over and over a hauntingly lyrical tune by Creed, "With Arms Wide Open." Its theme? Fatherhood. Favorite memories of Tony's father include astonishing Tony with Blackhawks seats located nearly on the ice, as well as never missing a little league game where the young LoSasso was better known as LoSlugo for all the home runs he'd hit. Memories his mother holds dear feature Tony continuing his tradition of poolside barbecues, often with a Texas twist. Touchingly, he adored her dogs Beau and Bailey as much as they, clearly, adored him. A large and loving family cherished Tony, including his father, Joseph LoSasso, and Joseph's wife, Shelley; his mother, Patricia Biggs, and her husband, Mark; Tony's son, Anthony Joseph, Jr., and daughter, Melanie; their half-siblings whom Tony helped raise, Joshua and Jason; and their mother, Helen. Also grieving are Tony's siblings — Laurie, Michael, and Joseph, Jr.; stepsisters on his father's side, Cori and Laura; and step-siblings on his mother's side — Joel, Lisa, and Justin. Many more count among the loved ones who will miss Tony, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Following cremation, friends in Montana and family in Illinois plan to disburse his ashes. Rest in peace, Tony — son, brother, father, uncle, granddad, and friend. With arms wide open, we will remember you.
