Brian Old Crow,

Brian Carl Old Crow was born on June 14, 1974 at Crow Agency, MT to Jude Old Crow and Janice Good Luck. Brian was given his Crow name “Baakúuxshe Baacháachish “ (Helps A lot) by Bill Russell. He was a member of the Ties a Bundle clan and a child of the Big Lodge Clan. His early years were spent in Lodge Grass surrounded by his paternal Old Crow family and maternal Young and Good Luck families. He also was blessed with a great deal of love from his paternal grandmother Annie Walks and his many aunts and uncles at St. Xavier. He began his education at Lodge Grass and went on Lame Deer Elementary through 8th grade graduation. He attended Bozeman, Colstrip High School and Lodge Grass High Schools. In Junior High he played basketball and wrestled but his real love was riding horses. He first started working with horse training as a very little guy helping his Dad, Jude, train horses for Frederick Lefthand out at Spearsiding. This early excitement led to many years of working with horses. He loved the thrill of chasing wild mustangs in the Birney area with his Uncle Conrad Fisher. Later he enjoyed working with racehorses especially the relay teams of Darren McDonald and Myron Little Light. For many years Brian followed the pow wow trail initially sitting with his Grandpa Leo Good Luck's Bald Eagle Singers. After his mom and siblings moved to Lame Deer he began singing with his Uncle Conrad and the Swift Hawk Singers. He was gifted his first pow wow drum by his grandfather Leo and set up his drum at the Birney pow wow. He was elected President of the Lodge Grass High School Indian Club and joined the Black Whistle drum group who he sang with for many years. He joined the Black Bear Singers after he moved back to Lame Deer and travelled to many pow wows. Brian was baptized in the Lady of Loretto Church at Lodge Grass when he was a baby. As a young boy he attended White River Mennonite Church. He also attended Full Gospel Tablernacle and Faith Chapel. He worked on many different jobs for the Crow Tribe including Tribal Building Security, AML, Little Horn Casino as a slot tech and many other seasonal jobs. Brian was preceded in death by his beloved son Terrin Coy (TC) Old Crow, his father, Jude Old Crow, his paternal grandmother Aline Old Crow PrettyOnTop, his paternal grandfather Ben Walks, his maternal grandmother Cesyl Young Eastman, his maternal grandfather, Leo Good Luck Sr., his uncles Collin Young and Bruce PrettyonTop and aunt Heather Lefthand. Brian lost many, many close family members this past year due to Covid, too many to list. He is survived by his mother Janice, his companion Lana Gutierrez; daughters: Jaimee, Belva, and Tatum Old Crow, Hadley Wilson, Misha Gutierrez and Aretha Hogan; sons: Morie Ironmaker, Sage, Kaymani, Brian Jr., Jamison, and Brayon Old Crow, and Myron Goes Ahead, also Tayshawn Left Hand, Leo Eagle Feathers, and Jordell Black Wolf; grandchildren: Tayon Old Crow, Xavier Ironmaker, Kingston Lucero, Alayah and Leah Medicinehorse; sisters: Amanda Old Crow, Misty Marez and Ceslie Eaglefeathers, Beatrice Black Eagle, Jamee Chandler, Dea Good Luck, Shawna and Jessica Beaumont; brothers: Wendell Left Hand, Quentin Long Fox, Buckley PrettyOnTop, Joey Gutierrez; aunts: Rachel and Dorothy PrettyOnTop, Adora Turns Plenty, Sharon and Mavis Walks, Sara Young, Jolene Webb, Alice Lion Shows, Germaine, Geneva and Carol Black Eagle, Fatima Bad Horse, Rhonda Caufield, Frederica Lefthand and Richelle Eastman; uncles Leo Good Luck, Jr., Jonathan and Evan PrettyOnTop, Dale, Dean, Tex and Clayton GoodLuck, Myron and Frankie Eastman. Brian was also a father figure to many adopted children. His extended family includes the Goodluck, Black Eagle, Young, Yarlott, Walks, Old Crow, PrettyonTop, He Does It, PlentyHoops, Otter Stays in the Water, Yellowmule, Black Hawk, and Brass families. Our family is large so please forgive us if we have forgotten any family members.
