Fred Smart Enemy, Jr

Fred “Stuffy” Smart Enemy - Baa' Chikaa'n Na'ash (Goes Singing Praising Songs), was born August 12, 1943 to Fred “John” Smart Enemy and Elizabeth “Myrtle” Hears Every Way Smart Enemy and passed to the other side camp November 16, 2020. He was a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a Child of Ties in the Bundle Clan. He was also adopted into the Tobacco Society, was a member of the Native American Church, practiced the Sweat Ceremony throughout his life, and participated in hand games for many years. He grew up in the family home in Pryor. He attended Pryor Public Elementary and Edgar High School. During his school years he played basketball, was an avid hunter, and rode & trained horses with his father. As a young adult he married Linda Demontiney of Rocky Boy. From this union they had a son and two daughters. He was a person that carried out the teaching of his parents, especially his father's, he shared these ways with his children, grand children & great-grandchildren whom he enjoyed spending time with. This teaching involved many phases of the Crow way of life. He knew who to tease and have laughs with and he knew who to respect. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters: Clara and Theda; Daughter: Shawn Lee; Brother: Tom Kaulity; Tobacco Society Parent: Rose Hugs Plenty Good; Tobacco Society Siblings: Gladiolus Crooked Arm and Dan Old Elk. He is survived by Son: Barney; Daughter: Crystal Jonelle; Buddy Door whom he considered a son; grandchildren: Taleshia (Josiah) Hugs, Patricia, Alton, Shawn (Joe) and Darian Smart Enemy, Shelby & Cynthia Hill; Great Grandchildren: Samuel, Cashius, Caius, Taiah, Audrey, & Aaliyah; Brothers: Corky Old Horn, Gary & Sammy Rides Horse; Sisters: Mary Lou Big Day & Barbra Lee White-Comes; Nephew: John Big Lake; Nieces: Tammy (Chris) Dillon & Jashaun Eagleman; Tobacco Society Siblings: Lawrence & Robert Flat Lip, Raphaelle & Vera He Does It, Lois Ann Crooked Arm, and Carlene Old Elk; Extended Families: Descendants of Sun Woman, Rides Horse, Big Hair, Leider, He Does It, Paul Hill Families, Old Coyote, Old Horn, Bad Bear, Miles Fighter descendants, Hawk, Nomee, White, Buffalo Coat, Chief Goes Out, Chief Stick, Morsette, Caplette, Riding Bird, Raining Bird, Kaulity, & Woodtick. Stuffy was rich in relatives. In trying to recall older relatives, many names escape our memory and we apologize in our time of grief.
